Overview
The Ely Renaissance Society works to preserve, celebrate, and share the art, architecture, and cultural heritage of Ely, Nevada. Its work is experienced across four distinct sites: Renaissance Village, the Art Bank, the Mural Walk, and Block One.
Each site offers something different, from historic buildings and public art to galleries and gathering spaces. MCBCreative was brought in to help the Society present these individual places as parts of one connected cultural experience—making it easier for residents and visitors to understand what the organization offers and why each site is worth exploring.
Challenges
The Ely Renaissance Society had developed an impressive collection of cultural destinations, but the four sites did not share a consistent visual identity or a unified story. Each had its own purpose, personality, and history, making it difficult to communicate how they related to one another under the Society’s larger mission.
The organization also needed materials that could support ongoing promotion without requiring a large team to continually create new content. With a limited budget and volunteer-led capacity, every piece needed to be practical, adaptable, and useful for years to come.
Because these sites also contribute to Ely’s broader visitor experience, the project required collaboration with the local travel and tourism authority. The work needed to support both the Society’s mission and the community’s larger efforts to encourage cultural tourism in White Pine County.
Solutions
MCBCreative created a cohesive visual system that brought all four Renaissance sites together while preserving the character of each location. A shared color palette, typography, graphic style, and storytelling framework gave the Society a recognizable identity that could be applied consistently across its communications.
We clarified the role of each site within the larger visitor experience:
- Renaissance Village invites visitors into Ely’s cultural history through a collection of restored historic buildings.
- The Art Bank provides a distinctive gallery and creative space in a repurposed historic bank building.
- The Mural Walk turns downtown Ely into an accessible, open-air celebration of regional history and artistry.
- Block One combines public art, gathering space, and interactive features at the heart of the community.
Working in collaboration with the Ely Renaissance Society and local travel and tourism partners, we developed messaging and materials that complemented the region’s existing visitor promotion. This included a visitor brochure, coordinated storytelling, brand guidance, and a collection of evergreen social media graphics and captions designed for repeated use over time.
The result was a flexible set of tools the Society could use independently while maintaining a polished and consistent public presence.
Impact
The completed work transformed four individual sites into a cohesive cultural destination. Visitors can more easily understand how the locations connect, while each site retains the distinctive qualities that make it memorable.
The unified look and storytelling also give the Ely Renaissance Society a stronger foundation for promoting its mission, supporting cultural tourism, and collaborating with community partners. With reusable marketing materials and clear brand guidance in place, the organization can continue sharing Ely’s history, creativity, and sense of place with both residents and visitors for years to come.
